Thanks for downloading my Tengwar Sindarinwa font. I have been a major fan of Tolkein's books ever since they were first published in the United States, and I have also been very interested in the contrived languages he developed for those books. Shortly after The Hobbit first came out, I set about learning the language of the Elves, and eventually taught myself how to write basic Sindarian, Fëanorian and Quenya phrases. Eventually I started learning about computers, and one of my first projects (after learning how to do it) was to develop an Elvish font. I had seen a number of fairly popular freeware fonts, particularly "Tengwar Gandalf", which I considered to be severely lacking. They didn't represent all of the different Sindarian letterforms, didn't handle ligatures at all, and looked lousy when printed from a relatively high resolution printer. So, calling on my skills as a graphic artist, calligrapher and typographer, I started from scratch and, in 1995, successfully completed what I perceived to be the first fully functional Elvish typeface for use on a computer. With the recent rise in popularity of the Elvish language, due in no small part to the recent release of The Lord of The Rings movie, I figured that there would very likely be a surge of interest in the Elvish language, so I dug through my archives and resurrected my Elvish font project, updated the existing font files so that they now include TrueType, PostScript type 1 and bitmap formats for both Macintosh and Windows-based PCs (I'm currently working on a unix-compatible font as well), which is what you have downloaded. This font is not freeware. If you like it, and end up using it on your computer, I respectfully request that you send me $15 USD. If you end up using it commercially, I would very much appreciate it if you could let me know. You are free to redistribute this font as long as you let me know, and as long as you include this notice. I can be contacted at the following addresses:Hybrid Elephant P.O.
