The Bordmonitor without CD
The Bordmonitor without CD
The DVD recorder will fit. A tape unit can be converted too, but it is harder.
The
Bordmonitor has a detachable mouth peace. This makes it a whole lot easier to The

Making room in the front for the DVD
The 5V 10W DVD power supply is located outside of the Bordmonitor as it will also power one of the USB hubs. It is also controlled by the PC remote output, so the most straight forward solution was to place it outside and make an extension cable to the DVD power connector.
Connect the DVDThis is how to connect the DVD USB so that it can be connected externally. (I do not want to turn off the DVD when the monitor goes off) Bare in mind that the DVD is 2A in 5V and cannot be powered by USB 5V.
The white and red is the data+ and data- from the USB connector, and the solid red and black is 5V from external DC/DC converter.
Mounting the DVD in the BordmonitorI order to assemble the DVD drive I've made a small rubber piece out of an ice-hockey puck.
As you can see the 9V battery holder is a perfect guide for the DVD. Originally, before I got this handy USB to slim DVD interface, I made the rubber bits to hold the DVD in its old interface pcb to the back wall. Now I just took one of them since they holds a nut so it is easy to mount, and they were a perfect distance so that the DVD would not get pushed too far into the Bordmonitor. I then put some hot clue on the 9V battery holder, cable exit and the DVD bezel. Click to enlarge.
