FATIDIQUE
is a piece based on the soundscape of woodwinds : either sampled sounds
and noise
or
recorded improvised phrases, lines, motifs played on a double-bass clarinet
by Dror Feiler.
FATIDIQUE
which in French means fateful, contains a dualism where improvised and
composed music
are
put against each other. The spectacular in improvised music is its ability
to release the deep and
hidden
layers of the soul, it creates a space for the unconstrained imaginary
development, that feelings
and
ideas can arise and disappear instantly. Equally fascinating is the composed
music which perpetuates
the
lives of these feelings and ideas, which the composer keeps in a high level
of organisation.
On
this basis I've tried to create a hybrid : a composed music which retains
the spirit of improvised music.
What
appears can be fatidique, fateful. FATIDIQUE was composed in 1993,
in the studio for electroacoustic
music
at the Royal University College of Music in Stockholm. |
