Tom Alberts - A summary of experiences

My CV is a long list of assignments and this page presents a summary of my professional experience.

I consider that my background is an important blend of applied economics and academic work and research (1964-68, 1974-79 and more recently environmental economics in 1993)

A major part of my work has involved agricultural (and rural) development planning. This has also involved policy analysis and recommendations.

Several assignments have included feasibility studies with a major focus on agro-industries. (For example, A Soya Milk Factory in Argentina, 1986 and a Port Grain Terminal in Poland for the World Bank, 1991)

I have been involved in all phases of the project cycle, including project identification, planning, appraisal, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

The clients include bi-lateral organisations such as Sida, DANIDA, NORAD and DFID, multi-lateral organisations such as the World Bank, IFAD and UNIDO and not least the private sector.

I have a major experience from working in Africa (Mozambique, Angola, Guinea Bissau, Ethiopia, Swaziland, South Africa, Tanzania, Kenya, Tunisia and Morocco), in Latin America (Peru, Chile, Bolivia, Ecuador, Argentina and Brazil) and in Europe (Poland and Greece) in the Middle East (Oman and Saudi Arabia).

An important part of my work has been as team leader working with professionals from many disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
