TALENT COMMUNITY
Talent Community is an ongoing documentary project about cultural entrepreneurs and freelance collectives in Gothenburg. So far it consists of three videos:

More and More and More

More and More and More is the third video in the Talent Community series and it's about the Mermermer design collective. Mermermer was founded in 2005 by six graduates from the HDK design college and they now rent a space together in the central part of Gothenburg. Jennie, Helena, Åsa-Hanna, Camilla and Karin talk about their friendship, business strategies, daily economic struggles, dreams and worries about the future.
IO Design Office

Second output from the Talent Community project is "IO Design Office" (19 min). IO co-founder Kajsa Nordström talks about the history of IO and why their model of organization is so productive. The ten people at the IO office all have their own company but they have decided to sign their work with the IO label. They share a common webpage, business cards, logotype, etc, and in that way they can all be more visible on the market. From the outside IO looks like a medium size design firm. They try to find a golden middle way, with the advantages of a traditional medium size company (stability, multi-competence) combined with the flexibility and hungry mentality of a self employed crowd.

The IO model has been increasingly popular among cultural workers the last couple of years. Graduates from design school have little hope of beeing employed even if some of them would prefer a 'normal' job. In Gothenburg IO was one of the first multi-disciplinary collectives of this kind and they are now functioning as inspiration for several startup offices.
Interview With Kokokaka

First output from the Talent Community project was "Interview With Kokokaka" (16 min), a straight forward video interview with Ulf, Malin, Jimmy and Markus from the production company Kokokaka, Kokokaka is owned by Jimmy and the three other people are employed by him with steady monthly salaries. Thanks to big clients such as Volvo and Ikea they manage to spend a lot of time on non-profit projects in between money work. This film is about creativity and flow, about pressure and security, about fun and the good life.
