Eva's costuming page
Hi and welcome to my costuming page!
My closet and personal
space in the international community of historical costuming fanatics.
While this page mostly deals with clothing from the period covered by the SCA there are also some other historical periods represented, such as the 18th and 19th centuries. I have also
recently become very interested in in 20th century fashion to use for everyday wear; especially
the 1940s and 1950s. The 20th century has thus got it's on gallery -small, but
growing; you find it below.
Well, who am I then?
Well, as stated above;
my name is Eva, the whole name being Eva I Andersson. I'm also known as Fru Aleydis in the SCA, where I'm a member of the
SCA shire of Gotvik in the Principality of Nordmark, Kingdom of Drachenwald, but I can't say that I'm that active, real life taking up too much time currently,I just go to a
few events, mainly to the camp at Visby medieval week.
Historical costuming is not just a hobby to me. Or rather, while the costuming part is a hobby, the research isn't. I'm a historian by profession and the subject of my PhD-dissertation was (surprise!) medieval
clothing in Sweden and Norway. My dissertation, which is called Kläderna och människan i medeltidens Sverige och Norge (Clothing and the individual in medieval Sweden and Norway) which contains an english summary as well as an
abstract can be found here I am currently working on a project
called "Clothes, Gender and Class 1500-1830", which studies clothing in relation to perceptions of body, sex and status. One result of this project is an article on Swedish women's manner
of dress in the 16th century, which can be found in the 2011 issue of Costume
I also teach History and Fashion history at the University of Gothenburg.
I
live in Gothenburg, Sweden. I'm married and have twin daughters born in August 1994 and another girl born the 12 of May 2004.
If you for some reason are interested in my thoughts on costuming, life in general and other things that passes trough my mind, I have a LiveJournal that you can look at.
I also have a swedish blog which mainly deals with fashion and clothing.

| Dress diaries Sometimes I make a diary of the construction of my outfits. This gives more opportunity to discuss sources and methods. |
