Eva's costuming page
Hi and welcome to my costuming page!
My closet and personal
space in the international community of costuming fanatics.
It will contain mainly pictures of and articles
relating to historical costume from the middle ages and the renaissance. However, I will not limit myself to this,
but occasionally make little excursions into other periods as well.
Well, who am I then?
Well, as stated above;
my name is Eva, the whole name being Eva I Andersson. I'm also known as Fru Aleydis by a lot of people,
mainly from the medieval group Nordrike.
I
live in Gothenburg, Sweden. I'm married and have twin daughters born in August 1994 and another girl born the 12 of May 2004.
Historical costuming is not just a hobby to me. Or rather, while the costuming part is a hobby, the research isn't. I'm a historian by profession and the subject of my PhD-dissertation was (surprise!) medieval
clothing in Sweden and Norway and the abstract can be found here. The book, which is called Kläderna och människan i medeltidens Sverige och Norge is unfortunately out of print, but is available at a lot of Swedish univeristy libraries.
Unfortunately it is only in swedish; one of my dreams is to have it translated to english. I am currently teaching History at the University of Gothenburg and I also teach fashion history at a college. Recently I got research
funding for a project concerning clothing and the preceptions of body, sex and status in the period 1500-1830, which will start in January 2009. A short summary of the aims for the project can be read here.
Apart from history and costuming I have some other interests too, for instance I sing and socialize with the local Nordrike group Nylöse (If you click on "bilder" you can see many pictures of both me and other people at events).
I'm also a member of the
SCA shire of Gotvik in the Principality of Nordmark, Kingdom of Drachenwald, but I can't say that I'm active, I just go to a
few events, mainly to the camp at Visby medieval week.
I also like reading, mainly books about medieval history of course, but also medieval courtly literature and SF. Another very important thing in my life is football.
If you for some reason are interested in my thoughts on costuming, life in general and other things that passes trough my mind, I have a LiveJournal that you can look at.
I also have a swedish blog about contemporary style, fashion and clothing.
