Yacht Crew- Claes Olsson

Born in Helsingborg, Sweden, I grew up sailing the Öresund area and part of the Baltic Sea. Served as an apprentice in the Merchant Marine and hold a ' Yacht Master's ' licence as well as a ' Ship's Engineer, class 6 ' licence, both issued at the Maritime Academy of Malmö, Sweden. A life much revolving around sailing and the sea I maintain a genuine interest in voyaging and details of it such as planning and outfitting.   • 1986 Skippered the sloop 'No Worries', U.S reg # HE 2626 E on a delivery from New Zealand to Honolulu, Hawaii via American Samoa and Christmas Island.
  • 1984/1986 Purchased and outfitted 38 ft. sloop 'Windchase', NZ reg # 2438 in Auckland, New Zealand on behalf of U.S owners.   • 1981/1982 Mate/skipper on 'one-tonner class' 'Duellant', U.S reg # C F 8102 HM on a crossing from Spain to Barbados and later from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to California.

  • 1978 Employed to supervise the construction of a 51 ft. ketch in Palee Shing, Taiwan. Later skippered the British registered 'Sinaloa' from Taiwan to Singapore via Hong Kong and the Philippines.
