VAE
(1998) is a work composed specially for and dedicated to the swedish trombone
player Ivo Nilsson.
As the title indicates the work
is a lamento characterised by an intensive and dramatic, yet soft and shaded
development of the musical/sound
material.
Build up on the alternance between
parlando-rubato and strictly measured parts, using a musical language
made up of a microtonal intonation
in fusion with an ornamentic unfolding of the rhythm, as well as a shifting
use of the mutes, VAE recalls the
sound world of the eastern-european folklore. |
