Johann Pachelbel: a comprehensive list of his works

The following shortlist of the works of the german composer Johann Pachelbel (1653-1706) has been compiled in order to give an easy-to find concordance between the different numbering systems of his works, and with the numbering in some important editions of his works. It is based on the list at http://www.klassika.info. Unlike e.g. Tsukamoto’s list, this listing follows Perreault’s numbering, which is strictly alphabetical without any regard to type of work. I have added cross-references to selected works with alternative titles at their places according to alphabetical order. Also added are some works I know about, though not listed by Perreault (there might be more such works).

The concordance between P and WPC numbers is taken from Perreault, Tsukamoto sometimes gives the WPC numbers differently from Perreault, especially regarding the Magnificat fugues; I haven’t seen Welter’s book myself. The Concordance of the POP numbers is taken from Tsukamoto. Perrault doesn’t give the T nor POP numbers. There is still some uncertainty in a few cases regarding the matching between the different numberings, so this list might be incorrect in a few places.

The editions column gives only a selection of the most important prints. There are many other editions not mentioned here, for a more complete list, see Perreault. An (*) indicates the existence of such an edition. An (-) indicates that no edition is known to me.

The contents of each edition is derived from Perreault; some errors and incosequences in his listings have been corrected by me. Also, some editions not mentioned by Perreault have been added by me (the editions V, X and Z). In many cases, I haven’t seen the editions myself, so I’m depending on Perreault for the correctness of these concordances.

For the sake of clarity, the entries have been colored in the following manner:

yellow                                 organ chorales and partitas

red                                      other keyboard music

purple                                 other instrumental music

blue                                    sacred vocal music

green                                  secular vocal music

grey                                    other or undetermined

white                                   cross-references to alternative titles
